Trivia night software that runs the whole night

QuizTreff handles the parts of trivia night that eat a host's attention: the timer, collecting answers, scoring and the standings. You stay at the mic and keep the room going.

No credit card needed to try it.

Before the night: set up once, reuse every week

Create your rounds and questions in the browser. Save your round format as a template (for example: general knowledge, picture round, music round, halftime, two themed rounds, final wager) and reuse it each week with new questions. Add a short explanation to any answer you want to talk about during the reveal.

If you run trivia every Tuesday or once a month, set it up as a recurring night. QuizTreff creates the upcoming dates automatically, so next week's night is already waiting when you sit down to write questions.

At the venue: two screens, one host

Open the host console on your laptop or tablet. That is your control panel: start questions, see which teams have answered, reveal answers, judge borderline responses and adjust scores. Put the presenter view on the venue's TV or projector. It shows the join QR code, each question with a countdown, the answer reveal and the standings.

Teams join in the browser by scanning the QR code or typing the short code. There is no app to install. If a player's phone reloads or loses signal for a moment, they rejoin and pick up where their team left off.

During play: answers, locks and reveals

  1. You start a question. It appears on the big screen and on the teams' phones with the countdown.
  2. Teams submit answers. With captain mode turned on, only the team captain submits, which keeps tables from sending five different answers.
  3. When the timer hits zero, answers lock automatically. Nobody can slip in a late answer.
  4. You reveal the answer on the big screen, with the explanation if you wrote one.
  5. You check open answers in the host console and accept close spellings where your rules allow.

Scoring that holds up to scrutiny

Phone answers are scored as you judge them. For paper teams, you print PDF answer sheets and an answer key, score the sheets at the table and enter each round's points. Paper and phone teams share one leaderboard.

Every score correction is logged with the reason you enter. When a team asks why their total changed, you can show them the change, the time and the reason instead of trying to remember.

The final round can be a wager round, where teams bet part of their points on the last question. If the top teams are still tied, a closest-number tiebreaker decides it.

After the night: regulars, seasons and listings

Regular teams keep their results across nights, so you can run seasons or leagues. Choose whether the league counts total points or each team's best nights, and put the league standings on the big screen at the start of the next night.

If you want new players to find you, publish your venue and upcoming dates on the public listing. Nights can be run in English or German. QuizTreff is currently in beta, has been tested with nights of up to 200 participants, and you can try it without a credit card.

Frequently asked questions

Does each team need its own device?

One phone per team is enough. With captain mode, only the captain submits answers. Teams without a phone can play on a printed answer sheet.

What happens if a phone loses connection?

The player reloads the page or reconnects and lands back in the same team and question. Answers already sent are kept.

Can I reuse the same format every week?

Yes. Save your round structure as a template and fill in new questions. Recurring nights are created automatically.

Can I change a score after the round?

Yes. Every correction is recorded with the reason you give, and the standings update right away.

How large a night can it handle?

QuizTreff has been tested with nights of up to 200 participants.
