Pub trivia software that respects the pub quiz
The pub quiz came to American Irish and British style pubs with its own habits: pens, answer sheets and a quizmaster with a microphone. QuizTreff keeps those habits and takes the scorekeeping off your hands.

The pub quiz tradition, in an American pub
In Ireland and the UK, the pub quiz is a fixture: a quizmaster, a stack of answer sheets, rounds read aloud and marked between pints. Many Irish and British style pubs in the US brought that tradition with them, and their regulars expect it. Some of those regulars have been playing on paper for twenty years.
At the same time, the younger crowd at the next table would happily answer on a phone. A pub quiz that forces everyone onto phones loses the first group. One that stays strictly on paper makes scoring slow and leaves the TV on the wall unused.
Paper sheets stay at the center
QuizTreff treats paper as a first-class way to play. Print PDF answer sheets for the night, with spaces for each round, and print the answer key for whoever does the marking. Teams swap sheets with the next table or hand them in to the quizmaster, the way they always have.
You enter each paper team's round score in the host console, and their total appears on the leaderboard alongside everyone else. Phone teams join in the browser by QR code and answer on screen. The final standings do not care how a team answered.
Rounds the way pub regulars expect them
A classic pub quiz runs a set structure: a general knowledge round, a picture round handed out at the start, a music round, and themed rounds on sport, geography or the news. Save that structure as a template and reuse it every week with new questions.
- Big screen shows each question with a countdown, so the back of the room keeps up even when the mic is muffled.
- Answers on phones lock when the time runs out.
- Short explanations after the reveal give the quizmaster something to talk about.
- A wager round and a closest-number tiebreaker finish the night.
Mixed crowds in one game
Pub quiz nights draw a wide mix: expats who grew up on the pub quiz, local regulars, students, coworkers on a team outing and tourists who wandered in for a pint. QuizTreff can run nights in English or in German, which helps if your pub hosts an international crowd or a German themed night.
Regular teams keep their results from week to week, so you can run a league and announce the season standings the way a pub quiz league back home would.
Try it on a quiet night
Run your first QuizTreff quiz on a night you already host, with paper sheets as usual, and invite a few tables to try their phones. Put the standings on the TV after each round and see how the room reacts. Ask your regulars afterwards what they thought; the quizmaster's table is where the real feedback at a pub quiz comes in. If the paper crowd wants to stay on paper, nothing changes for them except that the scores are added up faster. QuizTreff is in beta and you can try it without a credit card.
